Volunteer Hours

Parent Volunteers

At the San Francisco Islamic School, we believe that there is a direct correlation between student success and parent involvement.  Our parent volunteers are a special part of the school culture where they help nurture a sense of responsibility and exemplify commitment to their child’s Islamic Education.

Volunteer Requirements

SFIS Families are required to complete 20 service hours per school year.  Volunteer hours are to be completed prior to the last day of instruction.  Families will be charged $10 for each hour not completed by the end of the school year.

Most families complete and exceed the required volunteer hours by actively participating in projects and special events along with projects requested by the classroom teacher and school staff.  Volunteer hours must be completed by an adult over the age of 18.

There are many ways to fulfil volunteer hours.  Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Field Trip (coordination)
  • Providing supervision during recess and lunch in the playground.
  • Arts and Crafts support
  • Assisting teachers in assembling instructional material
  • Weekly cleaning of school premises
  • There are many more volunteer opportunities, check with the SFIS admin staff for additional opportunities.

Logging in Hours

Parents are expected to log in their hours using Track it Forward.  All submissions will be approved by the SFIS administration.
